In the first quarter of 2025, Nigeria's communication app market showcased diverse performance trends across the top five applications. Here's a look at how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Telegram saw its weekly downloads fluctuate, starting at around 139K and ending the quarter with an increase to 141K. Revenue peaked at approximately $36K at the start of January, gradually declining to about $25K by the end of March. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 21M.
Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out experienced a peak in downloads in late January with 64K, before leveling off to approximately 23K by March. Revenue reached a high of $15K in late February, with active users generally increasing, peaking at 792K towards the end of March.
SMS Virtual - Receive SMS started the quarter with 8.9K downloads, rising to 17K by the end. Revenue showed a consistent upward trend, reaching $13K in late February. Active users increased steadily, ending the quarter at about 71K.
